Using Social Networking to Build Up Your MlmProspects

Social networking is nothing new to the internet. It has actually been around for a while, ever since Friendster first pioneered it in 2002. There are hundreds of social networking sites on the internet today, with hundreds more opening up each month. You’ve probably heard of some of the more famous ones – MySpace, Facebook, LinkedIn, Bebo and YouTube.

What is social networking?

Social networking sites allow their users to create an online profile, share information, and connect with other users. The information that users share may include, among other things, photographs, blog posts and music clips. Users will have a selected list of connections to people and have the ability to view those people’s profiles and list of connections. The most unique thing about social networking sites is that users can make their social networks visible to people in their list of connections. Often, this allows people who would not have met under any other normal circumstances to get to know each other.

When a user signs up for a social networking site, he is usually prompted to identify other members of the site who he knows or has a relationship with. These people are commonly called “Friends” or “Contacts”. Most social networking sites will also allow users to leave comments and private messages on their Friends’ profile pages. Beyond this, social networking sites can vary greatly with regards to the type of features that they provide to their users. Some sites even provide for video-sharing and instant messaging.

Social Networking and Network Marketing

Social networking sites can be very conducive to internet and network marketing. It can help you to build a web presence, generate traffic to your website and build up your prospects. On MySpace, for example, not only can you share your photos and favorite song with your friends, but you can also build your own group and disperse information about your marketing campaign or product to them. You can take advantage of the bulletins that are provided to speak about your network marketing website, product, blog, or anything that you may want to create publicity for. Just imagine how easy it would be to let people know about a new product you want them to try out.

You can also establish relationships with people from your industry or market niche. If you are able to develop friendships with network marketers inside your niche, it could even allow for some commercial cooperation. For example, you could exchange leads, trade prospect lists or give each other marketing advice.

Mind you, social networking sites are usually not suitable for direct product advertisements. But they sure provide a great way to communicate with people about your products. Most social networking sites such as MySpace and Facebook also have an advanced search function that allows you to target a certain demographic audience and ask to become part of their network. This has huge potential in terms of exposure because you can communicate with people who would be more likely to be interested in your network marketing or mlm product.

Optimally using social networking to build your prospects

Your ultimate goal should be to use social networking to get people to trust you and to drive people to your network marketing website. This way, you increase the number of prospects for your product. There are several things that you can do to help yourself along.

First, make sure that you join the most popular social networking sites. There is no need for you to join every single social networking site out there, but you should at least become a member of MySpace and Facebook. MySpace has approximately 9 million members, so imagine how much traffic you would be able to generate to your network marketing website if you could get your profile noticed by its members or visitors.

Second, make sure that your profile looks professional. Remember that you want to get people to trust you so they will click on your links leading to your network marketing website. There are many free templates that you can download and use for your profile to make it look more distinctive. Also, be careful with how you write up your profile. It needs to be informative and eloquent.

Third, you must build good, long-term relationships with the people in your friends list. If you want to leverage social networking for your network marketing business, you will have to become an active member of the community. Social networking members do not like spam and will not react well to sporadic product advertisements. You need to participate by joining conversations, listening to people, and understanding the general culture of that site. You need to gain the people’s trust and acceptance by providing truthful, useful, and helpful information before you can even think about product promotions.

Finally, you should start using YouTube to broadcast yourself for your network marketing business. YouTube is the most well-known video broadcasting/sharing site on the web today and it can win you a significant amount of attention. YouTube allows you to share your videos with other community members. It also allows you to create your own video blog, which is essentially a collection of videos that you find interesting and want to share with other people. If your video or video blog leaves people curious and wanting to find out more about you or your website, they will probably click on the links leading to your network marketing website.
