Using Google Adwords to Build Your List
If you’re relatively new to network marketing, you may have stumbled upon the term “list building” more than once in your search for useful tips. And you’ve probably wondered to yourself what that is and why so many of the network marketing gurus out there keep telling you that it’s so important. Well, I assure you that you’re not the only one asking those questions.
What is list building?
List building is when you gather names and email addresses and compile them into a subscriber opt-in list that is to be used in direct e-mail campaigns. Normally, this is accomplished by using a squeeze page. A squeeze page is a webpage whose sole purpose is to solicit the names and email addresses of its visitors. It attracts visitors by offering information that is interesting and relevant to them. For example, a squeeze page may offer its visitors a free report that is associated with a product sold or promoted on your website. Visitors can get this free report if they provide you with their name and email address. If they’re interested enough in the free content being offered, they will probably do so. Once you have that precious email address, you can regularly send your new subscriber quality content or updates about the network marketing product you are promoting.
Why is it important?
List building is a very valuable tool for any network marketer. In your efforts to promote or sell network marketing products, you will have to send your visitors to a sales page at one point or another. If you send them directly to the product’s sales page, you are, in effect, just like a salesman that knocks on people’s doors and tries to sell them products. Customers don’t know you, they don’t trust you, they could think you’re trying to rip them off, and they won’t buy from you. List building, on the other hand, allows you to establish a relationship with your potential network marketing customers and build up their trust. It also allows you to send targeted information to subscribers who showed an initial interest in your product, making your network marketing efforts much more effective.
What is Google Adwords?
Adwords is Google’s advertising platform and it allows network marketers to create advertisements and select targeted keywords for them. The ads will only appear when someone types in the keywords that you instructed Google to display your ads for. If you are promoting a specific car rental service, for example, you might set your target keywords to be “car hire”. So when someone types in “car hire”, your ad that promotes the car rental service will be displayed alongside the actual search results. You are not asked to pay an upfront fee to join Google Adwords and neither do you pay to have your ad displayed. You only incur a cost when someone actually clicks on your ad.
Google Adwords and list building
The greatest thing about using Google Adwords is that you can be sure that the people who see your advertisement have an interest in the network marketing products you are promoting. Essentially, Google Adwords is a form of direct marketing because it only shows the ads to a targeted group of people.
Turning back to list building, your ultimate goal should be to get as many interested people as possible to sign up to your email subscriber list. The longer your list is, the more potential network marketing customers you have to repeatedly market to. When someone types words into Google’s search engine, you can be 100% sure that they are looking for information about something. If you can customize the content in your landing page in such a way that it matches the information that the person is looking for, you immensely increase the chances that he or she will sign up to your subscriber list once he clicks on your ad.
Let’s take a look at an example: You are a network marketer who promotes and sells wedding gifts and souvenirs. You sign up to Google Adwords and design an ad that lets people know that they should click on your ad if they’re looking for some unique wedding gifts. You choose the keywords “wedding gifts” and “wedding souvenirs” as the prompters for which your ad will appear. You then design a landing page which offers a free write-up of wedding gift ideas if the visitor signs up to your email subscriber list. Because you know in advance that a visitor who clicks on your ad and is brought onto your landing page will be looking for information on wedding gifts, you can be quite sure that a list of wedding gift ideas would be an enticing offer that would interest him or her enough to sign up to your list.
Now, do you see how using Google Adwords in combination with your highly targeted landing pages can result in an extremely successful list building campaign for your network marketing business?
